Property is not the sacred right. When a rich man becomes poor it is a misfortune it is not a moral evil. When a poor man becomes destitute it is a moral evil teeming with consequences and injurious to society and morality.
Photography suits the temper of this age - of active bodies and minds. It is a perfect medium for one whose mind is teeming with ideas imagery for a prolific worker who would be slowed down by painting or sculpting for one who sees quickly and acts decisively accurately.
The real democratic American idea is not that every man shall be on a level with every other man but that every man shall have liberty to be what God made him without hindrance.
