I've never seen a worse situation than that of young writers in the United States. The publishing business in North America is so commercialized.
I am still a victim of chess. It has all the beauty of art - and much more. It cannot be commercialized. Chess is much purer than art in its social position.
Look back over the past with its changing empires that rose and fell and you can foresee the future too.
