As crucial as religion has been and is to the life of the nation America's unifying force has never been a specific faith but a commitment to freedom - not least freedom of conscience.
I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it friends make life a lot more fun.
